Trump's Reich

Donald Trump has announced his new "reich."
Adolf Hitler and Donald Trump

Donald Trump has read Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler's autobiography and white supremacist required reading. Those closest to the disgraced former president say that he has a keen admiration for the German dictator, who murdered six million Jews during the Holocaust.

Trump's ex-wife Ivana is now buried underneath his golf course. Her burial now serves the function of a tax break or perhaps something more sinister like the location of stolen documents. Now forever a stain on American history, nothing is beneath the lowly former President of the United States, except for what might literally be beneath him at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. Before Ivana mysteriously fell to her death down a flight of stairs, she revealed that her ex-husband used to keep Adolf Hitler's speeches at his bedside

The former president studied those speeches in detail. In recent weeks, Trump has referred to political opponents as "vermin," and accused immigrants of "poisoning the blood of our country." Even an elementary study of Hitler would reveal that these are the rantings of the German dictator. That was all before Hitler lost the second World War in humiliation, before cowardly ending his life while hiding underground like a worm.

Hitler demonized his political opponents, as does Trump. The German fuhrer attacked the media, and much like Trump's "fake news," coined the phrase Lugenpresse, or "lying press." Both Trump and Hitler relentlessly attacked science because only dear leader can authorize truth. Both embraced closing borders and mass deportation, along with detention camps. Both Hitler and Trump raged against the democratic process. Both attacked the rule of law, and both claimed to have had unlimited power.

It runs in Trump's family. His daddy, Fred, was vehemently racist, and was once arrested at a KKK rally. Donald's cousin, John Walter, would kick his heels before entering Trump's room and shout, "Heil Hitler," before entering Trump's office. Before Trump entered the world of politics, he dedicated himself to racism, illegally kept Black people from renting his properties in New York and rallied against the Central Park 5, a group of Black men falsely accused of rape, all of whom were later proven innocent.

Now, Trump is promising an American "Reich." It's not a racist dog whistle anymore, but blatantly out in the open. In his most recent Truth Social ad, Donald Trump posted a campaign video, which asked the ominous question, "What's Next for America?" In the video appear the words, "the creation of a unified Reich."

The term "Reich," was popularized by Hitler. It refers to a governmental body, ruled over by a dictator entrenched with unlimited power. Hitler's Germany was a Reich. Hitler referred to his rule over Germany as the Third Reich, which he saw as an extension of the Roman Empire. Despite this, Hitler's reign ended in a humiliating underground suicide, only twelve years after it began. In its wake, six million Jews were murdered, and 70-85 million people were left dead as a result of World War II. This is what Trump emulates and this is what he wants for America.

While Trump clearly sees himself as the new Hitler, and America as the new "Reich," he has nefarious allies that might just help him pull it off. Trump has long been an admirer of dictators. He has been friendly with the likes of Russia's Vladimir Putin, Hungary's Viktor Orban, China's Xi Jinping, and North Korea's Kim Jong Un. Each seek to replace President Biden with Trump, whose form of xenophobic isolationism will allow them to carve up the world as they see fit, apart from American interventionism. Russia helped Trump win the presidential election in 2016, and seeing how easily swayed he was, Trump may have even more help in 2024. Trump, who has long been a Russian asset, is a premier investment for foreign dictators, who wish to use the power of the American presidency to accomplish their own nefarious agendas.

Trump has a plan for the United States. He will imprison his political enemies. He will round up millions of immigrants, deporting many, and placing many more in concentration camps. He will pull the United States out of NATO and give Ukraine to Vladimir Putin. He will place himself above the law and will never leave office, a permanent dictator unto the point of death. When he finally passes, another Trump will assume power, carrying out the same policies in perpetuity. Trump will carve out American democracy in his own image and the United States will become unrecognizable.

Of course, this can all be prevented, if the American electorate wakes up to the threat Donald Trump poses. If Americans care more about the preservation of democracy than they do the price of gas or eggs, this evil can be resoundingly defeated at the ballot box, but it's a big if. Despite President Biden leading a historic economic comeback, despite America rising from the ashes of the Covid pandemic and regaining the respect around the world that was lost during the Trump presidency, much of the media in the United States is controlled by billionaires on the right. And media forms American public opinion like never before. The American people, now beholden to their algorithms endlessly debate the question Pontius Pilate once asked, "What is truth?" If Americans don't figure that out before November 5th, the blood will stain the hands permanently, and won't ever be washed away.
