Russia Using Chemical Weapons in War Against Ukraine

Russia's Illegal Use of Chemical Weapons

According to a recent report by the Telegraph, Russia is using deadly chemical weapons on Ukrainian troops. The poisons, known as CS, are banned during times of war by the Chemical Weapons Convention, but that hasn't stopped Russia from using the dangerous gasses in their unending quest to conquer Ukraine and remake the country in their own twisted image.

Ihor, a Ukrainian commander on the frontline city of Chasiv Yar, attests to the following illegal attacks,

"Nearly every position of our area of the front was getting one or two gas grenades dropped on them a day."

According to Chasiv, "The only way for them to successfully attack us was with gas." Russians use the gas to lure Ukrainian troops away from their embedded positions. The poisoned soldiers then leave their positions in a panic, only to be targeted by Russian artillery thereafter.

Mikhail, another Ukrainian soldier serving as infantry commander near Robotnye, credits gas masks with escaping the illegal attacks, "Gas masks saved more than one of our lives." Mikhail now requires his soldiers to always carry their masks with them. Due to the Russian's use of chemical weapons, such masks have become a necessity on the front, but many are outdated ex-Soviet models and do not provide adequate protection. Some soldiers have no protective gear at all, relying exclusively on donations or whatever they can gather instead.

Just Like the Nazis

Ukrainians were able to provide The Telegraph with one of the gas canisters illegally used by Russians. Chemical weapons analyst, Marc-Michael Blum, was able to confirm that the weapon in use is an illegal K-51 gas grenade.

The Telegraph reports that there are also other types of gas being used by Russian soldiers, in their attempts to lure Ukrainians to the slaughter. These other gases include chlorine and chloropicrin, both used by the Nazis in World War II.

In total, the Ukrainian military reports 626 gas attacks conducted by Russian invaders, in their sordid attempt to erase the Ukrainian people from existence. Rebecca Maciorowski, an American nurse and combat medic serving with the Ukrainian military, believes this number is severely underestimated,

"Sadly, as it stands right now, the causes of death of many Ukrainian soldiers are not properly investigated. There are just too many of them."

Slava, a senior lieutenant deployed near Lyman, described the Russian gas attacks as taking place on a daily basis. The attacks have become so numerous that Ukrainian training has adjusted in order to combat them. Now soldiers are told to stay where they are and suffer through the first few minutes of painful and debilitating symptoms, enduring the effects of the dangerous gasses until they wear off.

Russia's Sordid Response

There are no denials from the Kremlin. To the contrary, Russians seem proud of their efforts. The Black Sea Fleet's 810th Naval Infantry Brigade boasted about their use of chemical weapons in a post on Telegram last December:

"Thanks to the head of the radiation, chemical, and biological defense troops...for the weapons provided and their timely delivery."

They also posted a video, taking credit for using K-51 gas grenades being dropped on Ukrainians.

On a recent Kremlin state television news report, a Russian soldier said,

"The enemy decided using gas masks will help. The gas masks don't help."
