MTG Schooled on Ukraine

Marjorie Taylor Greene is wrong again about Ukraine. This time Dr. Timothy Snyder put her in her place.
Marjorie Taylor Greene in the process of nearly having a rational thought? Doubtful.

The Vatnik

The ever controversial congresswoman from Georgia is at it again. Regurgitating talking points like a good vatnik, MTG would be better suited in the KGB than the halls of congress. As Democrats and Republicans come together to pass a desperately needed and long-awaited Ukrainian aid package, Greene has done nothing but stall the bill's inevitable passing, all while desperately seek the attention of the American press. This embarrassment is sure to please her Russian handlers, who have been singing her praises as an asset in helping to destroy both Ukraine and NATO.

Greene went as far as to propose ridiculous amendments to the Ukrainian aid bill entirely devoid of any basis in reality. One such amendment would require members of Congress to conscript into the Ukrainian military upon passage. Another proposed closing non-existent Ukrainian bio laboratories. Her amendments are filled with fallacious Russian talking points and Kremlin-inspired conspiracy theories that would prove to be the envy of wingnuts like Aaron Rodgers and Joe Rogan. For most Americans, however, it's just sickening.

Greene's amendments won't pass, but they are intended to draw attention away from the process, which is thus far proving to be successful. It's yet another attack on American democracy from the congresswoman from Georgia and her puppet masters in Russia. While the circus looks for its chief monkey, Representative Jared Moskowitz added his own amendment, a suggestion that MTG be named Vladimir Putin's Special Envoy to the United States Congress, as if she isn't already. This, however, would make it officially official, an honor that Greene would undoubtedly appreciate.

Fascist Propaganda Has Infiltrated Congress

One easily disproven Russian talking point regurgitated by Greene is that Ukraine is somehow a country led by Nazis. This is despite the fact that Ukraine is led by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is in fact Jewish. As she often does, Greene continued to spout such nonsense and walked right into a landmine known as Dr. Timothy Snyder. Snyder is a well-respected historian, whose expertise is in fascist regimes.

"On the question of Nazis, I've written two books, as a historian about Nazis and the Holocaust. On the question of Ukrainian Nationalism, I am the leading scholar of that subject in North America. I've been writing about it for 20 years. If the chamber is interested in the degree of far-right participation in Ukrainian politics, you can be assured that no far-right party has ever crossed 3% - 3% in Ukrainian elections. So, of course there are bad people in every country, but by any comparative standard, it is a very small phenomenon. In Russia, on the other hand, the [Russian] Army includes openly Nazi formations, such as Rusich. The government itself is fascist in character and it is carrying out a war which includes deportation of children by the tens of thousands, the open intention of destroying a state, as well as mass torture. So, if we're looking for fascism and if there is anyone who is sincerely concerned about halting fascism or racism, you would wish to halt Russia."

That would be check and mate for Dr. Snyder. Greene was suddenly (and finally) left speechless by the reply. This goes to show that evil always lies and when faced with great wickedness, knowledge is akin to light in the darkness, the best possible weapon to disarm a Russian bigot posing as a United States congresswoman.

Under oath and before the United States Congress, Snyder testified, revealing six propaganda themes being disseminated by the Kremlin, China, and far-right American politicians,

"Chinese propaganda about this war rides Russia, both in its methods, and in its themes, and in its particular tropes. If we follow Chinese propaganda about the ongoing Ukraine War, we notice a certain pattern, which is that, the political warfare themes, which - as colleagues have rightly said are meant to pass through us - have, in fact, done so. If you take the example of Chinese state media and Group 912 of the Ministry of Public Security, we notice the following themes. First, Ukrainians are Nazis - a Russian theme picked up by China and heard on the House floor. Second, it's all about NATO enlargement - a Russian theme picked up by China. Third, Ukraine is corrupt - a Russian theme picked up by China and echoed on the House floor, echoed in the Senate by Senator Vance. Fourth, that democracies can't do anything about Ukraine, that it's all pointless - a Russian theme, echoed by Chinese propaganda, picked up in House discussions. Fifth, we should pay attention to the border and not do anything about Ukraine - a Russian theme picked up by China, echoed in both chambers. Sixth, the [President Joe] Biden bribe - a Russian theme picked up and echoed by China, discussed in this very chamber. These are all Chinese attempts - all Chinese attempts to do exactly what colleagues have defined what political warfare is doing; to divide Americans, to make Americans weak, but also to draw Americans away from what is essentially taking place."
