Russia Under Water

With so much invested in the illegal invasion of Ukraine, Russia's infrastructure is failing.
Vladimir Putin is leading Russia under water.

Russia Under Water

The Kremlin is putting so much of its money into murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians that they are failing their own people at home. Not that infrastructure has ever been one of Russia's strong suits. Sure, there is Saint Petersburg and Moscow, where the Russian elites live. These are the cities Tucker Carlson made the focus of his recent pro-Russian X charade, where the much-maligned former Fox News broadcaster fawned over the country and its leadership. Russia, however, is a huge country and many of its 143 million residents live outside of these two cities, a fact conveniently forgotten by Carlson while he heaped praise on fascist dictator Vladmir Putin.

Saratov

One area, Tucker Carlson hid from his viewers is Saratov, a military city situated along the Volga River. The city's failing infrastructure has become infamous in recent times. Public transportation is atrocious and never on time, often leaving Saratov residents waiting outside to freeze in bitter cold temperatures. When public transportation finally arrives, it can take hours to travel only a few miles, as the streets are unpaved and filled with potholes.

Residents don't have much to look forward to when they get home either. There are usually only two choices of abode for those unlucky enough to live outside of Saint Petersburg or Moscow. Most Russians live in either government housing, tiny apartments in huge unkempt buildings, or ancient dilapidated family "homes," reminiscent of the Third World. Those lucky enough to live in the buildings often complain that no work has been done since the Soviet era. People either have to climb flights of stairs or take the elevators. The elevators also pose a significant risk, as they fail frequently, often leaving residents trapped inside to fend for themselves.

There is no reprieve inside the confines of their apartments either, as Russians frequently battle power outages and a near-constant lack of any warm water. Still, those are the relatively lucky Russians outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Others live in tiny family homes resembling what Americans would call huts. These homes often have no electricity, running water, or gas, let alone stable roofing.

Then there's Saratov's shit fountain. Yes, the shit fountain as it has become known. 'Shit fountain' is now a common descriptor for what has become a frequent occurrence in Saratov; a failing sewage system that penetrates the city's failing streets, spraying feces into the air. Those unlucky enough to be in the area often describe the smell as the inescapable odor of.....well....shit. Of course, none of this appeared on Tucker Carlson's broadcast.

Orenburg

Also absent from any of Tucker Carlson's stellar reporting are the residents of Orenburg, Russia. Their streets were flooded in what was a preventable disaster caused directly by the incompetence of the Russian government. Russian officials ignored an impending disaster that has since flooded the city of some 500,000 residents in neck high water. Now, due to funds being earmarked for the illegal invasion of Ukraine, residents learned that they are on their own, and unexpected to receive any government assistance.

One resident, rightfully incensed over the debacle threatened to impale Russian leaders,

"I pay taxes! An income tax, a tax for building! Now you're telling me that if I'm not registered there, I'm a nobody! But I worked my whole life and fucking lost everything! And you're calming me down! Don't calm me down! I haven't slept for 7 days! Emergency services are doing nothing! They're eating pies! And here [in Russia] on TV, they show pictures of how they work! They're doing fuck all! We haven't been heard.....don't interrupt me! I'm telling you again, don't test people! We'll put you all on pitchforks! Again, don't test people! Shameless! You came here, took pictures! They showed you on TV, as if emergency was working giving away pies and water! They're doing fuck all! In water up to my neck!"

The man went further, talking about payments being deliberately blocked by the Russian government,

"We won't get paid! Shameless! You wait! Until you come together with the people, until you're with people, no one will pay us anything!"

This Is Russia

This is Russia. And none of this Russia will ever make its way into Tucker Carlson's reporting. Carlson's reporting, filled with Kremlin talking points and Russian disseminated propaganda, frequently makes its way to Russian propaganda outlets. The Russian media uses Carlson's soundbites to reinforce the lie that Russia is somehow superior to the United States, propaganda begetting more propaganda.

Carlson recently said of the war in Ukraine,

"Why do I care what is going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia? I'm serious. Why do I care? Why shouldn't I root for Russia? Which I am!"

The notoriously paranoid Vladimir Putin won't just sit down with any journalist, only Kremlin loyalists.  And Tucker Carlson is nothing, if not a Kremlin loyalist.
