President Joe Biden as the Easter Bunny

There is a dangerous cult in the United States. Like the Nazis before them, this cult is resistant to fact and addicted to rage-fueled conspiracy. Led by a demagogue and a strong man (with tiny hands), the MAGA movement embraces manufactured outrage in ways typical of historic fascist movements. 

Such is the case with tomorrow's Transgender Day of Visibility, a celebration of "the courage and contribution of transgender Americans," that seeks to "reaffirm our Nation's commitment to forming a more perfect union - where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives." The idea of equality is as American as apple pie, but the Transgender Day of Visibility isn't exclusive to America. It's celebrated all over the world and has taken place annually on March 31st since 2009. 

This March 31st, however, happens to fall on Easter Sunday and there is a Democratic president in the White House. The outrage police ride the streets again looking for anything to feed their addiction to rage. Today, the American right, led by none other than disgraced twice-impeached former President Donald Trump, neglected true American values of equality to target Joe Biden. Despite the fact that Biden attends church more than any other president in American history, Republicans took to social media in droves to label the president "a blasphemer," calling into question his deeply rooted Catholic faith. 

A who's who of bad-faith actors, career criminals, and failed salesmen took to social media to target Biden, manufacturing outrage, as they wait in eager anticipation for Trump's commendation or to appear on the next Car Shield informercial. 

As he often does, Trump, America's latest scam Bible salesman, took to social media and declared the following: 

It is appalling and insulting that Joe Biden's White House....formally proclaimed Easter Sunday as 'Trans Day of Visibility.' This is an example of the Biden's administration's years long assault on the Christian faith. We call on Joe Biden's failing campaign and White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe tomorrow is for one celebration only - the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Apparently, the far-right are not fans of the Easter bunny, eggs, or baskets either since Easter must exclusively be celebrated as a religious holiday according to their worldview. Once again, the facts are not in the American right's favor here. Joe Biden has declared nothing new, nor has the most religious president since Jimmy Carter made war with Easter. Biden, like any sane president before him, only recognized an event that has been celebrated on March 31st for the last fifteen years. Only now, Biden is guilty of being a Democrat in the White House while a far-right fascist movement makes war with reality. 

It should be noted that Easter falls on a different date every year. Actual Christians (Catholics included) know that. This year Easter shares the day with Cesar Chavez Day, Thomas Mundy Peterson Day and World Backup Day, as well as the Transgender Day of Visibility. Next year, Easter falls on Adolf Hitler's Birthday. Something tells me that MAGA will have no trouble celebrating two holidays at once in 2025.
