Space Wars: Russia Releases Weapon into Space

Russia has launched a space weapon that directly interferes with the orbit of a major United States satellite.

The Pentagon confirmed that Russia launched a dangerous weapon into space, now in the same orbit as a United States government satellite. According to Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder,

"What I'm tracking here is on May 16, as you highlighted, Russia launched a satellite into low Earth orbit that we assess is likely a counter space weapon presumably capable of attacking other satellites in low Earth orbit. Russia deployed this new counter space weapon into the same orbit as a U.S. government satellite."

Ryder contends that the characteristics resemble previously displayed counter space payloads launched in 2019 and 2022. The United States government is continuing to monitor the situation, which may have major foreign policy implications heading into the 2024 election,

"Obviously, that's something we'll continue to monitor. Certainly, we would say that we have a responsibility to be ready to protect and defend the space domain and ensure continuous and uninterrupted support to the joint and combined force. And we'll continue to balance the need to protect our interests in space with our desire to preserve a stable and sustainable peace environment."

Major General Ryder was asked if the weapon posed a direct threat to the United States and his response is telling,

"Well, it's a counter space weapon in the same orbit as a U.S. government satellite."

The weapon launched by Russia must be considered a serious threat by the United States government, which has too often stood idle in the face of Russian aggression. The threat is particularly menacing now in an election year, as the fascist dictatorship advances territory into space, of all places. Whether the United States will respond to the act of aggression is up for debate. So far, these are just words from Major General Pat Ryder, a verbal response with no bite. The Kremlin, however, will continue in its attempts to launch full scale acts of war around the globe and absent an appropriate response by the United States government, Russia will do so unabated.

As Russia continues to sabotage pipelines, the European train system, the American water system, as well as democratic elections and governments throughout the world, no action by the Kremlin should be ignored or seen as innocuous. To do so would be at one's own peril.
