It's Tebow Time

Tim Tebow

He of little arm and lofty political aspirations, Tim Tebow, is back in the spotlight again and this time for his allegiance to a pair of controversial right-wing religious figures. The former Heisman trophy winning quarterback was announced as a special guest speaker at Sheridan Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

One of the most American things of all time is being free to practice your faith anyway you see fit, but Tebow's decision isn't without controversy. Sheridan Church is home to far-right hate preacher Jackson Lahmeyer.

Lahmeyer is famous for a host of controversial and bigoted opinions including the following:

The organization called Black Lives Matter is operating under the spirit of Jezebel. Did you know that organization was founded by witchcraft-practicing lesbians?"

The Oklahoma pastor and recent GOP senatorial candidate recently performed a poor taste political stunt, giving away flash drives, allegedly revealing contents from Hunter Biden's stolen laptop. Lahmeyer also threatened to murder his political enemies, promising to hold those who "stole" the 2020 presidential election, "accountable for crimes of high treason." In a separate video, the "pastor" held a flame thrower and used it to threaten liberals and other political enemies. Of course none of this vitriol was evident when Donald Trump rose to power or sold state secrets in the White House.

The decision to speak at Lahmeyer's event isn't exactly new for Tebow. Earlier this month, it was announced that the former Florida Gator would be a keynote speaker at anti-vax conspiracy theorist Clay Clark's business conference.

All of this is testament to how American Christianity has fallen since its political romance with Trumpism began during the 2016 presidential election. The values of love and charity have been pushed to the wayside for the morally decrepit likes of Trumpists Clay Clark and Jackson Lahmeyer. Tebow hasn't been insulated from the shift and like so many others, has proven that he is not immune to the Russian made Kool-Aid.
